it works!
Reading success is based on phonemic awareness and skill mastery of blending consonants with consonants to vowels, digraphs, diphthongs, and endings. Kindergarten (C) and first grade (CV) skills must be taught in succession. During the second grade year the following skills must be taught:
CVC,
CVCe,
CVVC,
CCVC,
CCVCC,
CCVCe,
CCVC,
CCVVC.
These Phonological skills are absolutely essential in learning to read. Phonics, Rhythms, and Rhymes develops these skills in the emergent reader simply by using an exciting rhyming method that ensures success in every child. At this grade level the student is also introduced to enrichment exercises. The objective of the Phonics, Rhythms, and Rhymes' 2nd grade program is to supply teachers with the necessary methods and materials that will bring about success in children.
Testimonial
The rhythms and rhyming part of Phonics, Rhythms, and Rhymes seem to be automatic. Students seem to connect with it because when I read the teacher's part students come up with their part without practice. It is natural for them. They come across words with a lot of syllables and they are remembering the blending or rhyming sounds better than before. My students love rhyming and do not want to stop . . .
