Have the studentsdraw a smile sign above each short vowel,  a mustache sign above each long vowel, a cross out line through each silent vowel, and a line between each rhyming word per line. 




Then, have the students to cover-up the box with a sheet of paper.  Call out the dictation words and allow students time to write each word.  After finishing this part of the activity have the students to remove the paper to see how well they did.
